Shelly Horton

My name is Shelly Horton, LPC, and I am a Professional Counselor licensed in Arkansas and have provided a variety of mental health services for over 30 years. I hold a Master of Rehabilitation Counseling degree from Arkansas State University, and I have worked with all age populations in many different settings. My favorite, by far, is the outpatient private practice setting because it allows me the freedom to focus on my own professional goal, which is to directly serve others by helping them to navigate through the uncertainties of life. Most often, I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, dealing with past trauma, and I have a special heart for assisting teens and young adults as they transition into adulthood, as well as those individuals who are moving through mid-life issues.

My approach to counseling is very person-centered, and focuses on developing a trusting and nurturing relationship with each client. Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy are the cornerstones of my practice as they help individuals to better manage their everyday problems by gaining self-awareness, regulating emotions, and changing dysfunctional thinking and/or behaviors.

My office is a judgement-free zone where we will work together to identify problems and develop new, more effective coping strategies. I look forward to joining you in celebrating your victories!
